Tax Collector

Overview

The Tax Collector is a public officer that is appointed by the Select Board, whose duties under Maine Law extend to perform:

• Collects payments in accordance with tax commitment issued by the Assessor;
• Sends bills to inform property owners of the total taxes they owe and when payment of those levies are due;
• Places liens on any property whose owner has not paid its taxes by the due date.
