Code Enforcement Officer

Overview

The Town’s Code Enforcement Officer performs the following functions:

  • Building Inspector (Title 25 M.R.S.A. § 2351);
  • Plumbing Inspector (Title 30-A M.R.S.A. § 4221);
  • Health and Safety Officer (Title 22 M.R.S.A. § 451);
  • Reviews permit applications and directly issues permits for all matters that do not require a conditional use permit, subdivision plan or variance;
  • Supports Planning Board in the evaluation of all conditional use permits;
  • Supports Appeal Board in the evaluation of all variance requests;
  • Investigates citizen complaints to ensure compliance with town ordinances, and initiates enforcement action (legal proceedings) when necessary.

The CEO must be trained and certified in accordance with 30-A M.R.S.A.§ 4451.   

To apply for a building permit, submit the completed application with a site plan drawn to scale. Detailed instructions of what the site plan should include are included in the application.  Applications are also available at the Town Office during regular office hours.
